The Groundwater Approach: A practical understanding of structural racism
You are invited to join LDEI x Made in New Orleans Foundation (MiNO) for a Virtual Groundwater Workshop on Race and Equity presented by the Racial Equity Institute (REI) in partnership with Les Dames D’Escoffier New Orleans followed by a special Hospitality focused Debrief Tea Hour for LDEI members.
GROUNDWATER WORKSHOP
12PM - 3PM - Virtual
Racial Equity Institute’s (REI) Groundwater workshop is a 3-hour workshop designed to provide a framework to help tackle the topic of race and equity thoughtfully and sincerely. During this workshop, participants will examine the interplay of systems -- education, health, housing, income, criminal justice -- and what thoughtful leaders who influence systems need to know about disparities. Through history and data, we will explore how racism is fundamentally structured in America.
LDEI DEBRIEF
4PM-5PM - Virtual/Location TBD
Following the workshop, a special debrief session will be used to process the impact of the workshop and bring the information home to hospitality environments. This session will be a space for sharing, relationship building, developing community, and creating space for that community to grow. This special session will be led by Lauren Darnell, Executive Director of MiNO Foundation. The session is intended to hold space for conversation to process the impact of the workshop and will include hospitality focused data in New Orleans.
